Day 4 - I challenge you!

So I've cheated a little with this one and started this challenge a couple of weeks ago! I was so frustrated with how quickly I became tired and would quit after a couple of minutes behind that I have challenged myself to run a mile every other day. Now I'm sure this doesn't seem far for many if you but it is for me. I wanted to set a challenge that I was going to be able to complete but was also going to be tough. In 2 weeks I have already seen improvements and it has been getting easier every time! In another 2 weeks I'm going to increase this distance by another 0.5 mile. This way I will be able to build up at my half marathon distance.

So I challenge you to join me!!! Go on you can do it. I want to here from you about your experiences of running. Can anyone give me any tips?

Day 2 Run-Swim-Run

Day 2

Yep still doing the exercise thing I started yesterday woohoo! So today was a good day for Smoardyfit. I didn't do just one form of exercise I did 4...yes!

1. 1.77 mile walk with my dog.
2. 1 mile run to the swimming pool
3. 40 lengths of front crawl
4. 1 mile run home

I never thought  I would be able to do a 1 mile run, followed by a swim and then be able to run home. Before I set off I thought I'm going to be able to do the run there and then the swim but I'm going to be crawling back. But it just wasn't the case and I felt even better on the way back! This exercise malarkey is great.

I'd really like to build a small community on here where we help each other and share experiences. So please comment on what your keep fit goals are and how you are looking to achieve them.

Dog Walking - 2 miles

One of my goals for Smoardy fit  is to incorporate exercise into my every day life. I have taken up exercise before that has been unrealistic for me to keep up and quickly lose interest after a couple of weeks. Therefore dog walking for me is perfect.

Having a dog that has boundless energy is a great way to exercise every day. You have no choice you to no matter what the weather that dog needs a walking!

Today I completed a 2 mile walk around my local village which took 37 minutes. I am hoping to get out again today for a short walk but we'll have to wait and see.

What exercise have you done today? I'd love to hear from you and share ideas

Inspirational Sunday

Day 1 - Lets go

Here we go day 1 of Smoardyfit.

This will be a recording of my efforts to get fit and healthy once and for all. I'm not completely out of shape but in the last year I have been slowly but surely been doing less and less exercise...always making excuses why not to go swimming or for a run and I have got out of shape and lethargic. Now don't get me wrong this is not going to be about weight loss for me it is about being active and feeling good about myself.

I am not an expert on getting fit however, I believe the secret to being fit is simple....exercise more and eat healthy. That's it! Simple. I'm not going to be trying out any crazy diet fads or only eating certain foods as I do not believe this works and is not good for your body.

So what are my goals for Smoardy fit....

1. Be able to run a half marathon
2. Do a mini triathalon
4. Making fitness become part of my lifestyle
5. Be positive
5. Have fun

If you have any advice on your experiences of getting fit please comment...What did you find worked for you? What did you find the most difficult aspect? What did you enjoy he most

So no time like the present lets get started...
